Your guide with everything that you need to know to travel from Athens to Crete
Crete is such an amazing island, Greece’s biggest one, with so good food, amazing beaches and so so many things for you to do.
There are 2 ways to get to from Athens to Crete, the fastest way is by flying there from Athens International Airport. It takes about 50 minutes to arrive and the cost depends on the season that you are flying. If you are flying during low season which is May and September you should expect the price between 78$-118$(68-104 euros), the price increases during the mid and high season and can go up to $180 dollars (159 euros).
Booking beforehand will get you a fair price, sometimes a bit before the summer there are offers that you can get, my advice is to use google flight tracker for those flights and book them when the price is low.
The other way for you to get from Athens to Crete is by ferry, if you book last minute then this one will guarantee you a better price. Boats and ferries are departing from Piraeus port and you can book your tickets online, the price for a trip from Piraeus port to Crete is between ~45$(40 euros) to ~56$ (50 euros) and it can take from 6 hours and 30 minutes to 9 hours depending on which boat and you book.
If you want to get a bit more comfortable though or bring a car with you then the cost would be a bit higher.
